Obesity/Weight Management
Obesity is a chronic, complex health condition that is traditionally defined as excessive fat deposition in the body. There are many health risks associated with obesity, including obstructive sleep apnea, heart disease, acid reflux, diabetes, hypertension, stroke and cancer. Losing weight is not always easy, and maintaining weight loss can be even harder due to the body’s adaptive responses to weight loss. This can often require, in addition to changing one’s eating habits and increasing exercise, medications that can help increase and maintain weight loss. At NYGA, we offer counseling and management on weight loss, in addition to medical therapy if needed.
