In-Office Infusions

In recent years, intravenous medications called “biologics” have revolutionized the care of patients with digestive diseases. Biologics target the individual molecules that trigger inflammation and thereby many gastrointestinal diseases. These “smart” medicines enter the bloodstream via infusion directly into a vein, bypassing the digestive system and traveling rapidly and without impediment to the site of illness.

The Advantages of In-Office Infusion Therapy

At NYGA, infusion therapy is primarily used to treat diseases and conditions that may not respond to other treatments. This includes Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal tract infections.

Infusion patients often have immediate relief from their symptoms following their therapy because their medication is injected directly into their bloodstream to ensure fast delivery. The treatments take the shortest, quickest route and can address the problem at its source in many cases. For those with gastrointestinal disorders, infusion therapy can also reduce the risk of complications or symptom flare-ups.

We are proud to say that NYGA doctors have participated in the studies that put these treatments on the map for treatment of patients with digestive diseases such as Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

We are also proud to say that NYGA gastroenterologists were among the first in New York to offer biologic infusion in the outpatient office setting, and have among the largest practice of our patient infusion in the Tristate area. Over the past 15 years, our physicians have become leaders in gastrointestinal infusion therapy. The advanced infusion approach has resulted in positive outcomes for countless patients across a range of illnesses. Currently, NYGA does thousands of infusions annually, while achieving an exceptional record of safety and efficacy.

Our in-office infusion therapy is provided in a comfortable, dedicated space located within our 5th Ave Location.
